Hubbard’s homer lifts softball, but team falls just short of a win over Mason

All 3 Seniors had 2 hits, but the team falls just short against Mason 3-2.   Seniors Natalie Barrett, Taylor Delk and Rhi Hubbard led the offense with 6 of the games 8 hit effort.  Hubbard’s solo home run in the 3rd inning put the Indians on the board.  Junior Natalie Elliott had an RBI knocking Junior

Athlete of the Week Apr 24 – Apr 30 – ERIN BURDINE (SR) – Softball

  “Erin is a 4-year starter and has been a strong presence on the field in 3 different positions this season – 1st, 3rd and catcher. She bats in the clean-up spot for us and is batting .378 with a home run, 4 doubles and is second on the team in RBI’s.”   Coach Brenda Stieger  

Athlete of the Week Apr 17 – Apr 23 – RHIANA HUBBARD (JR) – Softball  

“Rhi is a 3-year starter and roams our outfield.  She has become a powerhouse hitter leading the team in triples and 2nd on the team in average .(491), doubles (8), RBI’s (16), runs scored (28) and homeruns (2).  Defensively she handles centerfield with ease.” Coach Brenda Stieger  

Athlete of the Week Apr 3 – Apr 9 – TAYLOR DELK (JR) – Softball

    “Taylor is a 2-year starter and our ace on the mound this season.  She has all 6 of our wins, which is the most in the GMC to date.  She also stands 2nd in the league with 60 strikeouts.  Taylor’s calm demeanor and leadership has been the difference in many of our wins

Softball weekend recap…

The varsity softball team went 2 for 3 over the weekend defeating Kings Friday night and Harrison Saturday.  Leading the team offensively in the Kings game were Maddie Koger 1 for 3 with a double and 2 rbi’s, Rhiana Hubbard and Lindsey Mitchell each 2 for 3 with a double and 2 rbi’s.  Natalie Elliott, Natalie

Home opener features ceremonial first pitch by softball benefactor Mr. Rob Hodges…

Mr. Rob Hodges was recognized and thanked for his generosity to our softball program today in our true home opener of the season. Mr. Hodges donated material and labor to install the piping on the fences around the softball field.  He threw out the first pitch to his granddaughter and our starting shortstop Maddie Koger.

Softball opens league play with victory over Sycamore behind Delks 11 K’s

The varsity softball team opened their season over the weekend with a 9-6 slugfest win over Dixie Heights.  Maddie Koger hit her 1st homer of the season to put the game out of reach in the top of the 9th.  Hitting leaders were Rhi Hubbard and Koger each with a triple, Erin Burdine & Jordan
