Girls Varsity Tennis lost to Lakota East A-Team 5-0
The girls continue to improve their play and scores with every match.
Next week we have Roger Bacon and Hamilton on Monday and Tuesday, and then our Coaches Classic Tournament (Flight F), which Fairfield hosts on Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning. All are welcome to come out and support the team.
-GMC play opened last night and your Lady Indians defeated Middletown 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-3) to raise their record to 7-1 on the season. Fairfield currently ranks 1st in the GMC and 10th in the city. Lexy Thomas finished with 22 assists, 12 digs, 3 kills and 3 aces. Rayna Sayles and Kacie Sizemore combined for 17 kills while Olivia Faraci totaled 20 digs, 1 kill and 1 ace. Lauren Graber led our serving attack with 5 aces. The Lady Indians are home again on Tuesday when they face GMC rival Sycamore.
“Rachel began the season with a score of 79 at the Middletown Invitational and then followed that up with an 81 at the Fairfield Girls Golf Classic. Her 79 gave her a 4th place finish out of 120 golfers and her 81 was good for a tie for 7th out of 116. She is currently 5th in scoring average in the GMC with a 41.0.”

“James came up big in Thursday’s season opening win against Withrow 35-8 in the Skyline Crosstown Showdown. He did a little bit of everything in the win. He caught 4 passes for 95 yards and 2 TD; rushed for 29 yards; returned punts; and when our QB went down with an injury, James stepped in and ran the offense while throwing for another 41 yards. James was named MVP of the Crosstown Showdown.”

Anyone grades 10-12 interested in playing baseball this year will need to attend a player meeting on Monday Sept. 8 at 6:30pm in the Indian Room at Fairfield High School. Fall and winter athletes are also asked to attend.

Singles winners were Brooke Robertson, Alix Brabbs, Elizabeth Detcher. Doubles winners were Rachael Barker/Brianna Stacy and Cassie Cox/Nicole Bowles. Exhibition winners were Jenna Schulte, Jaimonee Madison, and the doubles team of Katie Wilburn/Jasmyne Sexton.
The Lady Indians defeated Badin last night 3-0 to raise their record to 6-1 on the season. Leading players were Lexy Thomas who finished with 28 assists, 7 digs and 2 kills; Kacie Sizemore who totaled 9 kills and 10 digs and Rayna Sayles who notched 8 kills, 2 aces and 2 blocks. The Lady Indians open up GMC play on Thursday when they host Middletown.
